Our Materials
Corman & Associates uses a range of high-quality materials in crafting the elements of each retail environment. Below are descriptions of some of the most common materials and finishes we use. We’re always happy to accommodate customer requests for specific wood species, support materials and finishes whenever possible. Of course, lead times will vary depending on the material specified.
Engineered Wood:
Cormans utilizes various types of engineered woods in most fixtures. The most common, MDF, or Medium Density Fiberboard, is widely available, durable, and economical in most applications. It can be used with an incredible array of high-pressure laminates, low pressure laminates and veneers, making the decorative possibilities almost limitless.

Slatwall:
Slatwall is incorporated into many of our fixtures, as it is the most versatile retail merchandising system. Read more here.
Paint Grade Slatwall - This is a slatwall in its raw Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) wood form. It can be clear finished or primed and painted to any color you choose.
Melamine Slatwall - This is MDF slatwall coated with a low pressure laminate to provide a solid color or wood grain appearance. We generally stock twelve melamine slatwall colors: White, Antique White, Almond, Champagne, Black, Fog Grey, Lt. Grey, Brushed Aluminum, Cherry, Lt. Oak, Soumi Birch and Hardrock Maple.
High Pressure Laminate Slatwall - HPL slatwall is recommended when you need a specific color and more durability than a melamine finish. The finish options are wonderfully varied. We primarily use Wilsonart and Formica brands.
Finish Options:
Most of our fixtures can be finished any way you choose with stains, laminates, melamines, paint or even custom faux finishes. We also offer renewable, recyclable and sustainable materials to assist in meeting LEEDS qualifications, or your company’s environmental initiatives. Simply let us know your project and material requirements, and we’ll be happy to work with you. For our complete Finish Options Guide, click here
